Overall, the value of beer imports increased by 16.2% for all importing countries since 2013 when international purchases of beer were valued at $12.9 billion. Year over year, beer imports appreciated by 5.8% from 2016 to 2017. From a continental perspective, countries in North America accounted for the highest dollar worth of imported beer during 2017 with purchases valued at $6.1 billion or 40.6% of the global total. In second place were European importers at 33.9% while 14.1% of beer imported worldwide was delivered to customers in Asia. Smaller percentages arrived in Latin America (5.6%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean, Africa (2.8%) then Oceania (2.6%) led by Australia and New Zealand.
