I’m about to undergo cataract surgery , and while I’m grateful to have this chance to restore my vision, it comes with a big challenge: I won’t be able to work during recovery. The healing process takes 6 to 8 weeks , and with the risk of complications from weather, smoke, wind, and vehicle fumes , I’ve been advised to take recovery seriously — even if it means being off work for up to four months . For those who don’t know me well: I work as a Big Issue vendor , which means I earn my income selling magazines in all sorts of weather.
