The Train Delay That Changed My Perspective

Yesterday, my train was delayed — again.
At first, I sighed, checked the time, and felt the familiar frustration build. Another fifteen minutes lost. Another plan slightly shifted.

Then I looked up. Around me, people were scrolling, pacing, frowning. The air felt tense. But outside the window, the sun was setting — streaks of gold and pink spilling across the clouds. It was beautiful, and no one was looking.

So I watched. I took a breath. The delay hadn’t changed, but my perspective had. I wasn’t stuck anymore — I was paused.

It’s strange how often life gives us these unplanned pauses — traffic, queues, waiting rooms — and how quickly we fill them with irritation or distraction. But if we shift our focus, they can become moments of stillness, even gratitude.

The next time you’re delayed, waiting, or stuck, try this: pause, breathe, notice. The world is still moving beautifully, even when you’re not.
