Reclaiming My Home: A 30-Day Cleaning Journey

For the past 13 years, managing stage 4 heart failure and other chronic health conditions has meant that some parts of my home—the parts that require heavy, physical scrubbing—have simply had to take a back seat. When your physical energy is limited, keeping up with deep cleaning becomes nearly impossible.

But today, I’m turning a page.

I am excited to announce a new 30-day blog series where I will be documenting my journey as I work to get my home back up to standard. I’ve just invested in the Leebein Electric Spin Scrubber, a tool that promises to handle the hard work for me, allowing me to maintain my independence and clean without the extreme physical strain that my heart simply cannot afford.

Why I’m Documenting This

I believe in being honest about the reality of home maintenance. Over the next month, I’m going to put this tool through a true "stress test"—no studio magic, no fake setups—just real life.

I’ll be sharing before-and-after photos of my toughest cleaning challenges:

  • The Downstairs Toilet: A notoriously difficult area that is going to be the ultimate test for the scrubber’s power.

  • The Kitchen: Tackling grease on my taps and even testing the scrubber on some of my old frying pans.

  • The Staircase: Reviving the surfaces that have been neglected for too long.

This series isn't just about cleaning; it's about reclaiming my living space and proving that with the right support—and the right tools—we can manage even the most daunting tasks safely.

I’ll be updating you on how the scrubber performs, which of the 8 brush heads work best for different surfaces, and how I’m managing my energy alongside this work.

The scrubber is on its way, arriving later today, and the real work begins tomorrow! I invite you to follow along, leave your comments, and share your own tips for home maintenance. Let’s see what we can accomplish in these next 30 days.

"The first challenge: Tackling years of buildup in the downstairs toilet. This is what 'before' really looks like—no staging, just reality."

"The stairs in 3dc8d333-a1fd-4b0b-9a98-a68468629587.jpeg show years of wear and residue. It's a big job, but one I'm finally tackling step by step."

"Even the kitchen taps in ead8798e-895f-4848-9dc1-370c9346591f.jpeg need a deep clean. I’m putting the various brush heads of the scrubber to the test here to reach those tricky spots."
