I've owned plenty of power banks over the years, but I wanted one that could do more than simply charge a phone.
My main requirement was simple:
It had to charge my Samsung Chromebook.
The UGREEN Nexode 20,000mAh 45W Power Bank has done exactly that.
First Impressions
The first thing that surprised me was the size.
Despite having a 20,000mAh battery, it's only about the size of a modern smartphone and easily fits into a bag.
It also includes:
- 🔋 20,000mAh battery capacity
- ⚡ 45W USB-C fast charging
- 🔌 Built-in USB-C cable
- 🔌 USB-C input/output port
- 🔌 USB-A output
- 📊 Digital battery percentage display
Chromebook Tested
This was my biggest test.
I connected my Samsung Chromebook and it immediately began charging without any problems.
Using a USB-C to USB-C cable, the Chromebook recognised the full charging speed with no low-power charger warning.
Trickle Charging Mode
One feature I wasn't expecting was Trickle Charging Mode.
Holding the power button for three seconds switches between:
- Normal Mode – Full-speed charging (up to 45W)
- Trickle Mode – Designed for low-power devices such as wireless earbuds and smartwatches
I even tested this with my Chromebook.
When Trickle Mode was enabled, ChromeOS immediately displayed "Low-power charger connected."
Switching Trickle Mode off restored full-speed charging.
It was nice to see the feature working exactly as described in the manual.
Built-In USB-C Cable
Another surprise was the built-in cable.
The manual explains that it works both ways.
It can:
- Charge your phone, tablet or laptop directly.
- Recharge the power bank itself from a USB-C charger.
That means you don't always need to carry an extra charging cable.
Pass-Through Charging
The power bank also supports pass-through charging.
This allows the power bank to recharge while simultaneously charging another device.
I tested this feature successfully, although charging the power bank on its own is naturally much faster.
Digital Battery Display
Instead of guessing how much power remains, the front display shows the exact battery percentage.
No more wondering whether the power bank is almost empty.
Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely.
After testing it with:
- Samsung Chromebook
- Multiple Android phones
- USB-C fast charging
- Pass-through charging
- Trickle Charging Mode
Everything worked exactly as advertised.
For anyone looking for a reliable USB-C power bank that can handle much more than just charging a phone, this has been an excellent purchase.
