For decades, the western coast of Lake Como in Cadenabbia was home to a grand but traditional landmark. Enter the newly transformed Lake Como EDITION, a total reinvention of a 19th-century neoclassical palazzo that shakes up everything you thought you knew about lakefront stays. Arriving by water, you are greeted by a striking balance of butter-and-clay heritage exteriors and slick, contemporary cool. The entrance sets an immediate tone: dramatic, minimalist, and effortlessly chic, pulling you away from tourist-heavy clichés and straight into modern European design royalty.
The Room
We stayed in a Lake View Suite, where the historic architecture of high ceilings and arched windows is met with a custom material palette of rich walnuts, white terracotta, and textured linens. There is none of the stuffy, old-world clutter here; instead, the room lets the scenery do the heavy lifting.
Floor-to-ceiling glass frames uninterrupted vistas of Bellagio across the water, making it impossible not to lose track of time. The bed is impossibly plush, dressed in custom bedding that feels tailored specifically for a deep, restorative sleep. The bathroom is a masterpiece of dark stone and brass, featuring a walk-in rain shower and custom Le Labo amenities created exclusively for the brand.
